The St. Mary’s University Law Alumni Association has honored three graduates – The Honorable Karen H. Pozza (J.D. ’91), 407th District Court of Bexar County; Peter E. Hosey (J.D. ’79), Jackson Walker LLP in San Antonio; and David C. Courreges (J.D./M.P.A. ’05), Courreges PC in Austin – during at its annual Distinguished Law Graduate Dinner, which was held Friday night before more than 1,000 alumni and friends.
Courreges received the Distinguished Young Alumnus Award for exceptional achievements of a practicing attorney under the age of 40.
As the founding shareholder of Courreges, PC (www.davidcourreges.com), he has more than a decade of direct experience in government law. But his work outside his firm has not gone unnoticed. Courreges serves as an executive on the Board of Directors for the Texas Young Lawyers Association and is the current president of the Austin Young Lawyers Association. He was honored this year by the Austin Under 40 committee as the top attorney under the age of 40 in Austin, and by the State Bar of Texas in 2012 with the Nancy Garmes Award for his outstanding contribution to legal and government education in Texas.
Courreges has also remained dedicated to the University, serving as an Adjunct Professor and helping create and administrate the Frank J. Madla and Irma Rangel Legislative Internship program, as well as the legislative externship programs for the School of Law. He is the immediate past president of the St. Mary’s Alumni Association – the youngest in the Association’s history – and a member of the University’s Board of Trustees.
